The Maya

Impact: The impact was that many of the surrounding city states adopted the tools and the inventions. Even after the Spanish conquered the Mayans the city states still used the products, and centuries later those tools were adopted and modified.
Farming The Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs were skilled farmers. Farming had a major impact on the world. Latin-American food was new to the people of Europe.
The Mayans invented chocolate, which helps with glucose and cholesterol. The Mayans had to clear huge areas of tropical rain forest for farm lands. They also had to create very large underground reservoirs to store rain water in order to water their crops.
The Incas developed more than 20 varieties of corn and 240 varieties of potato. They also cultivated squash, beans, peppers, peanuts, cassava, and quinoa. Salsa was invented by the Incas by combining tomatoes, chili peppers, and other spices.
